Pomegranate Still Life

We were so very lucky to move into a house with a full grown pomegranate tree.  It is beautiful with blossoms in the summer, then come November the fruit ripens and the whole tree is covered with these lovely hanging treasures.  They inspire me.  They look like pre-Christmas ornaments in this pinky-red color with speckles of green.

Since I haven't figured out what variety of pomegranate these are (or if they are edible) I find myself photographing them, drawing still life images, decorating, thinking of making wreaths, maybe even drying them for next year's floral designs.  Do you have any suggestions as to how they could be creatively used?
