Poppy in Pinks and Purples

This last month or so I have been experimenting with the new pinks and purples predicted by Panetone to be fashionable in 2011.  Honeysuckle, a reddish-pink, was named the color of the year and lavender, silver peony and russet are on the list of popular colors for spring. When combined, these hues do seem to have a modern flair.  Even though this is an image of a traditional floral subject, the colors are extremely non-traditional as I replaced the natural greens in the foliage with purple and a silver tone to keep the temperature cool.  What do you think of the color combo?

I have to say this was a fun piece to do, but I learned that poppies do not like to live indoors for very long. They twist and turn and drop their petals, so next time I paint one it will be planted in the ground!  To make this mixed media piece I used watercolor, colored pencil, decorative papers and silver beads.
