Creativity at Sundance...
In addition to the inspiring natural beauty that defines Sundance, creative activity flourishes throughout the resort in theatre, film and visual art. The Art Shack offers guests classes in pottery, painting, jewelry making, printmaking, photography and drawing. There is also a Glassblower Studio featuring live demonstrations. I was lucky enough to take a painting class at the Art Shack during our stay which I thoroughly enjoyed! The newly remodeled Sundance Gallery features the work of local and guest artists. It presents artwork reflecting an attentiveness to nature and the rustic Sundance aesthetic.
Throughout the resort there are examples of art and I found a few pieces particularly inspiring. The large scale sculpture Prayer Song, by Allan Houser, sits near a stream of water and exerts a commanding presence.
Also, there was a beautiful watercolor horse painting by celebrated artist September Vhay hanging in our cabin. I love the translucent washes of brown and gray in this image and the simple framing. Notecards of her lovely animal and horse watercolors were available at the Sundance Gallery so I purchased some to frame for our home.
