A Painterly Autumn Bouquet
The end of summer is bittersweet for me as I see many of my flowers finishing their season. A few sprigs of salvia and some faded hydrangeas remain in our yard this September as I add new colorful mums for the ensuing autumn.
This bouquet is transitional, made from the last summer flowers and the first of fall's beauty. All elements are home grown, except for the lovely magenta roses, for which I have Trader Joe's to thank. The silver-green hydrangeas are autumn's version of the pretty pink ones I featured last spring in this post about simple, fresh hydrangea arrangements. Isn't it amazing how time changes things?
Breaking out my camera for some creative work, I found myself most interested in the connection between photography and painting. These images explore that relationship. I chose rich painterly colors, flowing compositions and an unusual perspective. The soft focus and moody lighting create the look of an antiqued painting, blurring the boundary between photography and art.
